Introducing the Citizen 'Tsuki-yomi' Radio-Controlled Moon Phase - the world’s first light-powered radio-controlled moon phase movement. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first CITIZEN radio-controlled watch we are debuting the world’s first fully analogue moon phase function for light-powered watches. The Tsuki-yomi collection (directly translating to “reading the moon”) features a new radio-controlled Eco-Drive Cal. H874 movement that provides ±15 seconds accuracy per month, revolutionary proprietary Super Titanium™ material and artfully crafted moon pattern dials. Based on a unique mathematical formula developed by CITIZEN called “Luna Program”, the watch calculates the phase of the moon each day from signals received from multi-band radio transmitters. The phase of the moon at the six o’clock position is then automatically adjusted and displayed. The dial contained within a 42 mm diameter, stainless steel case has a strictly centred design and dispenses with all totalizers. This gives the wristwatch an attractive generosity. The dial carries easily readable Arabic figures to mark the hours. Other features include three hands and an orange, red or yellow minute track on an inner circle. The hour and minute hands are partially skeletonized in opposing ways to differentiate them more fully. The minute hand possesses a colour coordinated frame, so minutes can be read from the inner circle without an additional hand. A fluted crown that is characteristic of DAVOSA is screwed together with the case and remains eminently operable even when wearing pilot’s gloves. A vintage-look, leather strap harks back to the tradition of pilot’s watches. Here too, however, subtly colourful seams testify to a reinterpretation of the pilot’s watch.

Explore an intense texture crafted in an array of fine finishes on a black metal canvas. Introducing the GMWB5000MB-1, a true heir to the first-ever G-SHOCK in a multi-finish matte black metal design.

The art of timepiece finishes is on full display with this watch. Honing finishes feature prominently on the bezel and band, with sides treated in a hairline finish and beveled band surfaces, screws and buttons treated in a mirror finish. The entire watch is then coated in black ion plating.

Finally, the top surface of the bezel is polished once again in a hairline finish to expose nearly all of the stainless steel beneath the ion plating.

Ion plating one shade lighter than conventional black integrates the re-exposed stainless steel of the bezel seamlessly into the overall design for a sophisticated, well-balanced, and singularly intriguing timepiece.
